Life can feel completely overwhelming when you are dealing with anxiety, trauma, depression, grief, or workplace stress, but at Steps to Light Counselling, we provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where healing begins entirely at your own pace.
Taking the first step toward therapy is not easy, but it is a powerful choice to change your direction. Whether you are struggling emotionally, feeling stuck, or overwhelmed by work or life demands, support is fully available. You are not broken—you are human, and healing is completely possible.
Choosing the right therapist is a deeply personal decision, and true healing always begins with a safe, respectful, and trusting connection. I am a Registered Social Worker and Certified EMDR Therapist with more than 16 years of comprehensive experience delivering mental health, addiction, crisis intervention, and psychotherapy services. Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege of supporting diverse individuals, couples, youth, and high-pressure professionals through some of the most vulnerable and overwhelming moments of their lives. My clinical background spans across hospital acute care, emergency department crisis stabilization units, community mental health programs, and virtual care environments. This extensive experience equips me to understand both immediate, high-acuity crisis needs and the steady, patient pacing required for long-term emotional recovery.
My academic and clinical foundations are rooted in a Master of Social Work specializing in Medical and Psychiatry, with full Canadian equivalency and professional registrations in both Alberta and Ontario. Believing that therapy should be highly collaborative and human, I specialize in trauma-focused, evidence-based practices tailored precisely to your lived experience. I integrate advanced modalities including Certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma processing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Having practiced internationally in India as well as across Canada, I am deeply committed to providing culturally sensitive care and am proud to offer therapy fluently in English, Malayalam, and Hindi.
Whether you are looking to process childhood trauma, find stability amidst debilitating anxiety, recover from workplace burnout, or navigate a painful life transition, my commitment is to offer a non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard. Therapy is not about fixing a broken version of yourself—it is about helping you slow down, safely process what you are carrying, and reconnect with your inherent strength and clarity so you can move toward the life you want.
Deeply processing childhood trauma, painful flashbacks, and complex or intergenerational emotional wounds using evidence-based, specialized clinical approaches.
Restoring real day-to-day emotional stability, processing chronic low mood or overwhelm, and building practical tools to manage panic attacks.
Supporting high-pressure professionals, managers, and supervisors dealing with intense decision fatigue, leadership strain, and professional motivation loss.
I believe therapy should always feel safe, structured, respectful, and collaborative. Every individual's journey is entirely unique, which is why your treatment plan is tailored specifically to your goals and lived experiences. By utilizing proven, trauma-informed modalities like EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills, we focus on helping you slow things down and reconnect with who you are underneath the pain.
